This past year I served as Alpha Chi Omega’s Vice President of Philanthropy in the Iota Rho Chapter at Loyola University Chicago. This was the first event that I put on that hadn’t been done in the past. This meant that I had to learn how to create an entirely new event with no prior knowledge or experience. It was an interesting but knowledgable experience, in which I had to learn to work to create contracts, create shirt designs, work with a fraternity, and put on an event for about 200 people. We raised money for A Safe Place Chicago, which is a domestic violence agency that has space for pets, only one of two in the Chicagoland area. We raised about $1500 and walked in support of domestic violence survivors. It was difficult but it made me gain experience in planning an event that hadn’t been done before which will be extremely relevant for my future.
